Mission Brief 003 – You Are What You Consume

Not all input is equal. The books, podcasts, and media you choose shape your thoughts and mindset.

The average person consumes 34 gigabytes of information daily — the equivalent of reading 100,000 words per a 2009 University of California, San Diego (UCSD) report.

Garbage in, garbage out. Growth requires feeding your mind with quality.

Over breakfast, I often watch YouTube videos — sometimes news, sometimes history, sometimes just random clips. I’ve noticed something important: if I start my day with negative, pundit-driven news, I carry that tone with me. But if I choose a thoughtful documentary or a history piece, I feel more energized, curious, and open. What I feed my mind in the morning sets the tone for the rest of my day.

Replace one passive scroll with a purposeful read, listen, or watch today.

“It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it.” (Often paraphrased as – You are what you read/consume). — Oscar Wilde
