Mission Brief 048 – Manage Energy, Not Time

You’re not designed to be “on” all day. Your focus and energy operate in ultradian cycles—natural rhythms lasting roughly 90 to 120 minutes. To work smarter (and avoid burnout), align your day with these built-in waves of alertness and recovery.

Here’s the system:

→ 90 minutes of focused effort

→ 15–20 minutes of recovery

Use those breaks intentionally—step outside, stretch, hydrate, or take a few slow breaths. Resist the reflex to scroll or check messages. Instead, let your mind reset so your next focus block starts at full charge.

By cycling effort and recovery throughout your day, you create a self-sustaining loop of performance instead of draining your reserves.

I finish each session recharged, not drained, and ready for the next push.

Your 1-Day Ultradian Mission:

Plan one or two 90-minute Deep Work blocks today. When the timer hits, take a deliberate 15-minute recovery break. No screens. No messages. Just a reset. Step outside. Stretch. Breathe. Hydrate.

Then, return to your work with renewed focus.
